Who we are

Shieldling ("we," "us," or "our") is a child digital privacy service. We help parents identify and remove their children's personal data from online platforms and data brokers under applicable privacy laws including COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and state privacy regulations.

What information we collect

When you use our free scan, we collect:

• Your child's first name, age, and optionally their email address or username
• Your email address (to send the scan report)

When you subscribe to a paid plan, we additionally collect:

• Your name and billing email address
• Payment information, processed securely by Stripe — we never store card numbers

How we use your information

• To run data exposure scans using your child's name, email, and usernames
• To send you the scan report at your provided email address
• To file data deletion requests on your behalf with platforms and data brokers
• To provide ongoing monitoring and re-filing for subscribers
• To process payments and manage your subscription

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell your data or your child's data to any third party
• We do not store your child's data beyond what is needed to complete the scan and deletion process
• We do not use your child's information for any advertising or marketing purposes
• We do not share data with any party except to fulfill deletion requests on your behalf

Data retention

Scan data is retained only as long as needed to complete deletion requests and provide ongoing monitoring for active subscribers. When you cancel your subscription, we delete your child's scan data within 30 days. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

COPPA compliance

We are fully compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. All information about children is collected from their parents or legal guardians, who are the account holders.

Data security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for all data in transit. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers. We conduct regular reviews of our data handling practices.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete any data we hold about you or your child at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us using the Contact form.

Agreement to terms

By using Shieldling ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Shieldling.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of the child whose data you are requesting we scan and remove. By using the Service, you represent that you have the legal authority to act on behalf of the child.

What we provide

Shieldling provides:

• A free scan that identifies potential data exposures associated with your child's name, email address, or usernames
• For paid subscribers: filing of data deletion and opt-out requests on your behalf with platforms and data brokers
• For monthly subscribers: ongoing monitoring and re-filing of deletion requests

What we do not guarantee

We file deletion requests on your behalf using applicable legal frameworks including COPPA and state privacy laws. However, we cannot guarantee that all platforms will comply with every request, or that data will not reappear after removal. Platform response times vary and are outside our control. We will make reasonable and repeated efforts to achieve deletion but cannot warrant complete or permanent removal in all cases.

Payments and subscriptions

• One-time removal fees are charged at the time of purchase and are non-refundable once deletion requests have been filed
• Monthly subscriptions are billed automatically each month until cancelled
• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account or by contacting us; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• Refunds are available within 7 days of initial purchase if no deletion requests have been filed

Acceptable use

You agree to provide accurate information and to use the Service only for legitimate parental privacy protection purposes. You agree not to use the Service to request removal of data for any person for whom you are not the legal parent or guardian.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shieldling's liability for any claim arising from use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify active subscribers of material changes by email.
